Hunting Seaon Has Begun

Well deer season has officially started. This is a major event at the Peterson house. This means the start of many annual things, such as: Nik and Kay start (and finish) all of their Christmas shopping, Travis and Chris (Nik's hubby) will be gone pretty much every weekend for the next few months, I get to start decorating the house for Christmas (my favorite season, one month of decor is just not gonna cut it), many sleepovers at Nik's because neither one of us like to be home alone, watching my massive collection of Christmas movies (speaking of Home Alone), and of course lots and lots of shopping and girls day out! Ever since Travis and I got married (almost 4 years ago) Nik and I have started our own tradition of getting our Christmas shopping completed, usually the first weekend of hunting season. This year there are some changes..not bad just changes. The biggest change is that we now have Luke to join us in our outings. I think this is great because their is nothing more that I enjoy as his aunt then being with him all weekend long and being able to be an extra set of hands for Nichole. This year we actually got a jump start on our shopping since I was going to Fort Worth for the weekend. Although there have been and I am sure there will be more modification to our routine, one thing is for sure...although I hate having Travis away during the weekends in November, I really enjoy the time I get to spend with Nik, we always get to bond and have many late night discussions that we would not normally have the opportunity to share!

So about my weekend in Fort Worth, Katelyn ,one of my 2 amazing cousins, was performing her Senior Recital at TCU. Friday mom and I headed to Huntsville, picked up Uncle Alton, and drove to Fort Worth. We actually stayed at (SWTBS) Southwestern Theological Baptist Seminary..this is where Sara Beth, my other cousin, goes to school. Sara Beth hooked us up with a super nice room at the campus hotel. It was nice to be right there with Janie, Alton, and both night the girls slept over as well. Since us girls really do not get to hang out all that much anymore, we all really felt like this weekend was a treat! On Saturday Katelyn, her lovely boyfriend Austin, and I went to Ogle (a cosmetology school) and got pampered that morning with hair dos, pedicures, and Austin a cut. We then met mom and Sara Beth for a really late breakfast...and then we rushed to TCU just in time for the recital. Well, I know that Sara Beth is so gifted as a missionary to the deaf world and I have heard her speak on many occasions about her adventures overseas. Katelyn though, I have always known that she was talented with a beautiful voice and fingers that can play the piano like no other, but I realized this weekend I have never been to a concert of hers. This recital was for her final grade before she starts her student teaching in the spring, and she could not have had a better performance. She was amazing! I love my aunt, uncle, and my cousins to death and I am so glad we had this time together. I just continue to be surprised at the accomplishments of both these girls, they are Women of God and it shines through their every step.
